Plazes Sidebar: Easily Find Out Where I Am
I've been trying to figure out a way to let people know where I am so I could more easily "run into" people while I'm out and about. I've looked at Twitter and Jaiku and thought that they seemed to be less about location and more about micro blogging. I also thought about just setting up a sidebar widget to just type where I'm going to be, but I wanted something a little more easy to use and integrated with some other things I'm doing. After reading an article on Web Worker Daily about Presence Applications, I found a web app called Plazes.
Plazes is an app that lets you write quick little presence notifications about where you are or where you will be. The cool thing for me is that it can be updated via the web of SMS message. I also now have a small flash app running in my sidebar that gives my current location and, when clicked, gives a list of future locations and when I'll be there. There's also a feed that can be subscribed to in order to keep up with my latest happenings. Maybe only useful for stalkers, but hey.
Now, if you ever need to know where I am, you can just look at my blog and find out.
