I love these little cartoons. Nina Paley has taken the ancient Indian epic Ramayana (of which I was only vaguely familiar) and turned it into short cartoons set to old 1920's tunes. They actually get quite a story across considering how short they are.

They remind me of the animation at the beginning of Monsters Inc. It actually reminds me of the Hindu God drawings by Sanjay Patel who actually made the open title sequence for Monsters Inc. No wonder.

The site says it's a treatment for a feature and I'd love to see this blossom into a full fledged movie. I'd watch it.
