Tuscazoar Maple Days

If you have nothing to do on April 2nd and will be in the Northeast Ohio area, may I suggest you visit the 2005 Maple Days Fundraiser at Camp Tuscazoar.

I eat waffles (homemade and store bought) quite frequently at breakfast. I have been getting into all-natural maple syrup recently after being turned off of and generally disgusted by the corn syrup they sell in the stores nowadays. I tried some Canadian syrup they sell at the grocery store near my house and finally settled on one I like.

Amy and I went to the Christmas in Zoar event last year and saw quite a few local vendors selling different food stuffs. One of the vendors was Camp Tuscazoar with their all natural maple syrup made right here in Ohio. I decided to buy a bottle to try out.

It was the best syrup I ever tasted.

It wasn't overly sugary, very smooth, not "mucusy" (you know what I'm talking about, Hungry Jack). Great flavor. Awesome flavor. But not too mapley. As Goldilocks would say, this syrup is Just Right.

I can't wait for all I can eat pancakes drowning in this stuff. I also plan on filling up my car trunk with as much as it will hold. So if your near the area, I advise you to check it out. It's only $6 per person for all you can eat pancakes and demonstrations on how it's all made. How much would you pay for a little slice of maple heaven?

I wonder if they sell it in kegs.

State of The Blogosphere

Sifry over at Technorati is posting a series of entries entitled State of The Blogosphere. This is an interesting breakdown of what's happening with blogging and where it's going from here.

Some of the more interesting points:

  • 38,000 new weblogs a day, or a weblog every 2.2 seconds
  • In the past 20 months, the blogosphere has increased in size by over 16 times
  • 20% of Technorati's ping traffic is attributible to spam blogs

Sifry's been very good at filtering out spam blogs from his numbers, he says. It amazing to me how much blogging has exploded.

There used to be a lot of talk about how most weblogs were "useless", diary-type journals. I don't hear this anymore because I think people now see the value in it. Diary-type journals end up being first person journalism, stories that talk about the real world that most of us live in. It's not objective, but we know that and can compensate for it. Real views from real people is still real, even if it's not printed in black and white on cheap paper. Now that the value is being realized, more people are using it to communicate.

I wonder how many of this growth can be attributed to people with multiple blogs. I've been thinking of starting another one that would be more technical in nature than this one and I know a lot of people who have a personal, friends only blog and a more public persona blog. How many new blogs fit the category of second or third blog?

We all have multiple personalities. How many people have a blog for each one?
