Firefox Plugins

In response to this post on wilshire|one, I also have a list of Firefox plugins to shout about.

  • Bloglines Toolkit

I use Bloglines for all my RSS feeds and the Bloglines Toolkit adds a notifier at the bottom of the Firefox window that tells me when new articles are available. Click the icon and you are taken straight to your Bloglines feeds page.

  • LiveLines

LiveLines lets you customize the little RSS icon that Firefox gives you for live bookmarks. I have LiveLines set up to add the RSS feed to my Bloglines account instead of bookmarking it. LiveLines also lets you tie into other RSS aggregators, like Sage and Habari Xenu (whatever that is). It just makes life easier and I don't need that Bloglines Bookmark taking up valuable real estate.

  • Tab X and Undoclosetab

I've found that I can't seem to install Tab Browser Extensions on Firefox for Linux. I don't know why. I click the install button and it tells me the version isn't right. Oh well, I can just use Tab X, which adds a close button to each tab, and undoclosetab, which will undo an accidental close perserving the tabs history and everything. Pure, unadulterated heaven.

Along with Web Developer Extensions and ChatZilla, that's all I have for now. I always keep Gmail open in a tab, so I've never seen a need for a notifier for it.

I might take another look at what's out there now. It looks like a treasure trove of plugins has opened up since 1.0 was released.
