I turned on network.http.pipelining and network.http.proxy.pipelining and set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 15 and it already helped dramatically. I'll mess with these settings some more to see what I can get out of it.

BBC reports on a Red Cross representative saying that the death toll 'could exceed 100,000'. This will be one of the worst natural disasters ever.
I'm happy to see Bush stepping up and building a coalition to lead the recovery efforts. But he's only pledging $35 million to the effort to save the survivors, far less then the $225 billion he's spending to kill Iraqis.
